Teddington is an affluent area within the Borough
of Richmond upon Thames. Its name derives
from an Old English tribal leader, and it was known in
Saxon and Norman times as Todyngton and Tutington. The
name does not derive from 'Tide's End Town', as claimed
by Rudyard Kipling among others. The "ton" ending simply
means settlement.
There's a good selection of stores
on the high street;
including major chains such as Marks and Spencer, Starbucks
and a myriad of great
boutique shops and restaurants.

here right into Richmond town centre... and a couple of good pubs to
start you off in the right spirits!
