The best Richmond pubs and bars range from great gastro pubs to eat in, quiet pubs to relax by the river, loud bars to have fun in, busy pubs to watch the football or rugby in ... and then there are many pubs in Richmond that are perfect for brunch or a roast for Sunday lunch.

We've pulled together a list of Richmond's best pubs (as well as the best bars), but let us know if there's any good pubs we've missed out on - Contact Us

We list a few of the best rugby pubs below, but we also have a page dedicated to all you need to know if you're visiting Twickenham Stadium.

Albany Pub and Dining Room, The
1 Station Yard, Twickenham TW1 4EZ, T: 020 8891 1777
An excellent gastro pub tucked away in the backstreets of Twickenham. Always a selection of Sunday roasts (on Sundays!). Excellent for a beer or food on rugby match days - only 15 mins from Twickenham Stadium.

All Bar One

11 Hill St, Richmond, Surrey, T: 020 8332 7141

Always busy, and good food - one of the best bars in Richmond.  Usually packed on a Friday and Saturday night.

Anglers, The

3 Broom Road, Teddington, Middlesex, TW11 9NR,T: 020 8977 7475
An excellent pub in the summer with lots of outside space - just by Teddington Lock.  They serve good food inside, and have a BBQ with limited choice (basically burgers) in the garden.  One of the best pubs by the River Thames.

Bar Estilo

1 Hill Rise, Richmond, Surrey, T: 020 8940 5013

Lively Spanish bar serving Tapas.

Barmy Arms, The
Riverside, Twickenham, TW1 3DU, T: 020 8892 0863

Very popular rugby pub overlooking the river and Eel Pie Island - usually full of passionate England fans on match days.  Large beer terrace.

Bear, The

26-28 York Street, Twickenham, TW1 3LJ, T: 020 8843 7281
Good modern pub/bar with one of the best sunday roasts in Richmond upon Thames - as well as very comfortable sofas and a good selection of board games.  15 minutes from Twickenham Stadium - great for a match-day pint.  And they also show TV sport in the conservatory area of the pub.

Bloated Mallard, The
3 Victoria Road, Teddington, TW11 0BB, T: 020 8977 1342
Describes itself as a "shabby-chic pub which has preserved it's Victorian charm and 1920's hand pumps serving three real Ales.".  We've heard good things about the Bloated Mallard, but haven't yet been there!

The Clockhouse

69 High St, Teddington, Middlesex TW11 8HA, T: 020 8977 3909
Refurbished pub on Teddington High Street - smart casual dress code.

Duke, The
2 Duke Street, Richmond, TW9 1HP, T: 0208 940 4067
The Duke opened on the site of the Racing Page in December 2007, located between the High Street and Richmond Green.  The food is highly rated, especially their Sunday roast.

135 Petersham Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 7AA, T: 020 8940 8005
Recently refurbished and back to the original Arts and Crafts style, this Richmond pub also has a large front garden overlooking Richmond Park.

Eel Pie, The
9-11 Church St, Twickenham, TW1 3NJ, T: 020 88911717
A charming 'locals' pub that would seem more at home in the country, not in the centre of Twickenham.  About 3 minutes walk from the famous Eel Pie Island.

45 High St, Hampton Wick, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 4DG, T: 020 8943 5379 We hear good reports of the food in this Hampton Wick pub.

Grand Union, The
11 London Road, Twickenham TW1 3SX, T: 0208 892 2925
Busy pub in the centre of Twickenham - lots of comfy seating and pretty good burgers.  Very popular at the weekends due to their combination of cocktails and DJs, and its overflowing when there's a game at Twickenham Stadium.

Greyhound, The
82 Kew Green, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 3AP
Great pub overlooking Kew Green, and you can take your drinks out on to the Green which is perfect when the sun shines.  The Greyhound's Sunday lunch is excellent, but arrive early to get a table.

Lass O'Richmond Hill
8 Queen's Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 6JJ, T: 0208 940 1306

Located close to Richmond Park, the Lass has a really pleasant ambience and gets packed at Sunday lunchtime.  The menu is great, but the food doesn't quite live up to expectation. Parking at the back.

Lot, The
1a Duke Street, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1HP, T: 020 8940 6423
The Lot is a Richmond pub renowned for low priced drinks - which is why this pub is so popular with Richmond's students.

The Marlborough
46 Friars Stile Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 6NQ, T: 0208 940 8513
Stylish modern Richmond gastro pub with a good beer garden at the back with an outside bar, BBQ and gazebo.  We can recommend the sausage and mash. A Young's pub.

Old Goat, The

241, Hampton Rd, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW2 5NG, T: 020 8977 2698
Great stylish gastro pub with a decent restaurant (Brouge) attached.  Child friendly without being over-run with children!  And a massive selection of Belgian beers.

One Paradise Road

1 Paradise Rd, Richmond, Surrey, T: 020 8332 7122

Pleasant wine bar for "grown ups" (over 21s). This Richmond bar gets busiest in the after work hours, and especially on Friday nights.

Orange Tree, The

One of the best Richmond Surrey pubs. Refurbished in Sep 2005 and still some of the best pub food in Richmond.

The Princes Head, 28 The Green, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1LX, 0208 940 1572

Refurbished Fuller's pub with great food.  In the summer you can sip your favourite drink & watch a local cricket match on Richmond Green. Clientele gets younger when they show the big sport events on the TVs.

Revolution Bar, The
4 Whittaker Avenue, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1EH, T: 020 8940 1379
The Revolution Bar in Richmond is right on the River, just by Richmond Bridge, and specialises in vodka.

Roebuck, The
130, Richmond Hill, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 6RN, T: 020 8948 2329
Good atmosphere in this CAMRA award-winning Richmond pub, with amazing views of the River Thames, and just around the corner from Richmond Park. On big match days they show the TV sport. And it's also next door to Jerry Hall's house apparently...

Riverside House, Water Lane, Richmond, Surrey, T: 020 8948 7733

Sit outside by the river in Richmond and enjoy a pint of beer.

8 Ferry Rd, Teddington, Middlesex, TW11 9NN, T:020 8977 7762
The Tide End Cottage is a decent pub right next door to the Anglers at Teddington Lock. Food served all day, and several real ales on tap.

Tree House, The
73 White Hart Lane, Barnes, SW13 0PW, T: 020 8392 1617

Excellent gastropub in Barnes with outoor seating at the back. Cool furniture, and plenty of space for your newspapers if you're looking for a good Sunday lunch or brunch.

Victoria Inn, The

78 Hill Rise, Richmond, Surrey, TW10 6UB, T: 0208 940 2531
Best known for being the smallest pub in Richmond - it really is tiny! Decent priced drinks, and a small beer garden at the back.

White Cross

Water Lane, Riverside, Richmond, Surrey, T: 020 8940 6844

Good food, sometimes the pub is actually in the river when the tide is high! Good pub for watching sports on TV - rugby, cricket and football all shown.

White Swan

Riverside, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW1 3DN, T: 020 8892 2166
The White Swan is one of the best pubs on the River Thames and has been sitting there since 1690.  It gets very crowded on rugby days.  Evening Standard Pub of the Year 1997.

William Webb Ellis
24 London Road, Twickenham, Middlesex, TW1 3RR, T: 020 8744 4300
Named after the man who invented rugby, the William Webb Ellis is a popular rugby pub in the centre of Twickenham, about 60 seconds from the train station.  TV screens for the big sports games and wi-fi for your laptop.
