Richmond, Surrey was named after Richmond, Yorkshire, from which Henry VII drew his title of Earl of Richmond. Richmond, Virginia, USA, Fontainebleau, France and Konstanz, Germany are also sister cities to Richmond.


The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames includes Richmond, Kew, Barnes, Ham, Sheen, Mortlake, Twickenham, Teddington, Whitton and Hampton. We think it's the greatest community in Greater London. The name was 'created' in 1963, although interestingly Twickenham has twice the population of Richmond. The town of Richmond is known as Richmond, Surrey.
