RFU Posts Loss Due To World Cup

The RFU reported a loss of £6.3m for the last financial year because of the lack of Autumn internationals due to the World Cup – which happens every time the event is staged. However a little bit of smart planning has ensured that some of the revenues from the previous three bumper years are taken into account as reserves.

‘There are many positives in the current accounts and much to look forward to as we head towards hosting Rugby World Cup 2015, especially as 2012/13 already promises record group turnover, contribution and investment in the game.’, said Ritchie

Additionally the CFO Stephen Brown has stated that the bank loan that covered the costs of the new South Stadium will have been repaid by the end of the current financial year.
