London Broncos To Stay At The Stoop

Despite much uncertainty over the past few months, the London Broncos have announced that they will indeed be playing their rugby at The Stoop in Twickenham this year – although they have only extended by one year and will play two matches in other venues (part of their campaign to increase their fanbase).

According to the Bronco’s website Gus Mackay, Chief Exec of the Broncos said:

“After lengthy negotiations and discussions we have decided to remain at The Stoop for another year. The success of last season’s on the road games has given us the opportunity to continue with this concept in 2013. The venues for these two games will be finalised in due course as we seek to attract new audiences and spread the game across the South of England.”

Although the London Broncos have been playing their rugby at The Stoop in Twickenham since 2006, there’s always been debate about whether its confusing to have rugby league and rugby union teams at the same ground, and also a concern that the Harlequins over shadow the Broncos.

Although the club has had seven semi-permanent homes over the last 30 years, it appears that for at least the next season (2013 Super League), these issues have fallen into the background.
