As many cuisines offer great seafood (Italian and Japanese to name a couple), pure seafood restaurants in Richmond upon Thames are scarce.		But there's absolutely no shortage of fish and chips shops. Probably Britain's most popular take-away food of the 20th Century - it was one of a few foods not subject to rationing during the second world war. Sometimes it's hard to beat the taste of fish and chips with mushy peas!

Not the cheapest but you're guaranteed a good meal in Richmond's best known seafood restaurant. Fish buying and cookery courses also available. Great seafood, but you can also get a pretty good steak. The Wharf 22 Manor Road, Teddington, TW11 8BG, T:020 8977 6333 Converted from an old boathouse, the Wharf offers contemporary cuisine in a great position overlooking the river by Teddington Lock. The food is much improved and focuses on seafood.
